Default Is the Paint and Rust Protection Plan worth?

I just leased a 2012 ford edge SEL and the dealer suggested a 995$ paint protection plan which includes undercarriage rust protection , some teflon coating to protectg the paint and also some stuff they do on interior carpets to prevent staining. He is offering a remote key start with this package for free(whic I essentially do not care about much) .. What I wanted to know was if previous owners have experienced any rust issues and if anyone else has used this package .. is it worth it ?

No

really, no. You can get a car repainted for a grand. And you are leasing not buying. That means you are likely to return the car before rust appears.
It also depends if you are living and driving in the states that use road salt.
My 03 Windstar has rust issues. But you won't keep your Edge for 9 years will you?
