Hey everyone,

The engine started making a weird noise as if a piece of metal has broke off and is spinning around freely inside the timing chain cover or something.

It seems to be coming from the rear bank, timing chain cover side. I have already pulled the valve cover but there is nothing obviously wrong in that area.

I will not drive the car.

It has the duramax v6 i beleive.

Does anyone know if it is safe for me to take the rear valve cover off, maybe oil up the cams and such, unplug the fuel pump, and run the starter for a minute to see if i can find the source of the noise?

Also I took a video of the noise but Im not sure how to post it.
If there is an easy way ill do it.
