2001 ford escape 2.0 strange misfire
I have a 2001 ford escape, 5 speed with a 2.0. 160k miles. Last week I replaced the spark plugs and wires. Yesterday, it started misfiring on the number 2 cylinder. It'll accept part throttle, but anytime it's under a load, or your trying to accelerate with anything more then 1/4th throttle or so it starts cutting out. I can cruise along at speed fine as well. Just can't put much of a load on the engine before it starts cutting out.I replaced the coil pack, and that didn't fix it. I pulled all the spark plugs and they all look identical, and perfect.
My radar detector has a voltage function. Normally it always showed 14.2+ volts. But now it's showing the volts at 13.8 and when I "attempt" to accelerate, or whenever the miss starts, the voltage drops to the low 12's. Any chance my alternator is dieing? I don't know why that'd make only the #2 cylinder die, but stranger things have happened....
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
