Default 2002 Escape Starting Problems

I have a 02 escape with 103000 miles on it. Recently when i go to start it, it does not start right away. Almost like the truck isn't getting gas to get it to go. If i step on the gas pedal the truck runs, but as soon as i take my foot off of the pedal the idle goes real low like it wants to die or it does die. My husband said it could be the fuel pump, but he isn't sure. Anyone had this problem?

I have an 02 with the same issue. It starts 70% of the time. I took it to a mechanic and he couldn't find the problem. I finally came across a clue. When I first turn the ignition, there is a faint buzzing sound for 3 seconds. The car starts fine. When there is not buzzing sound, the car will not start. I have to toggle the ignition (on/off) several times until I hear the buzz and the car starts. This leads me to think that the problem may be electrical somewhere between the ignition switch, battery, fuel pump. My car is a daily driver and I take it on business trips.
