Default 2002 Escape - two issues

I have (OK, my girlfriend has) a 2002 Escape. V6, 2wd, she bought it new. It now has close to 160,000 miles on it and runs very well.

First problem: It seems to have developed a clunking from the front end over rough roads. It almost seems to be the sway bar links, I can reah under and get them to make the same noise. But these are unlike any other sway bar links I've seen. Any helpful information?

Second, my more immediate issue is with the rear windshield wiper motor. It's bad, and now I'm trying to replace it. It is being very uncooperative. I've got a motor. Everything is so corroded!

The wiper arm was corroded onto the motor drum. I ended up hacksawing it off (the arm, I didn't damage the motor core).

Then I removed the plastic trim skirt over the nut. Very corroded, but I used penetrating oil and a nice box end wrench. I got it off.

I still can't get the washers off below the nut. These are also quite corroded.

I removed the nut on the inside, it still doesn't seem to be any looser.

There seems to be one more bolt - the one that has the mushroom head and goes through the glass. On the inside it looks to require a Torx socket. Does this need to come out? If so, how?

Any help is much appreciated!

Default Escape coolant flush

Hello members,
I'm flushing the coolant of my escape 2002 for the first time since I bought it new, first I took it the dealership to have the job done but it seems to me the that charge is too high ($175) just for flushing it, I'm a single dad and spending that amount for a simple job I have to think about it over. I know it's simple but I just want to know how it is done correctly, can't afford to make a mistake on my vehicle need it for work.
Can any buddy share an experience on this? I would appreciate it.

I have a 2002 & also had a noise in the front. $16 each at Advance Auto Parts for the sway bar links & no more noise.
