2004 escape xlt v-6 misfire
i have a 04 escape xlt v-6 that has a computer code showing a misfire in #4 cylinder. the check engine light comes on at 46 mph and goes off after you go below 46 mph. when hooked up to an oscilloscope it shows that all cylinders are misfiring at different times. the crank trigger sensor has been replaced by dealer and they are stumped as to why. approx 6 months ago the same code came in and 2 burnt exh. valves and 1 intake valve were replaced. in the last month the vehicle has been to the dealership 3 times with no help (false code, computer software updates, fuel testing, computer memory earased, blah, blah, blah). the dealership is stumped and has gone to the tech dept. at ford for help, anyone got any suggestions? i still think that the problem may lie in a faulty computer but they dont seem to think so. thanks for any help anyone can give us. i am sure the dealer would just love for the customer/forum board memberto figure it out before the parts changers at the local ford dealership did.
Does it idle funny? Shaking? Thats one of the big signs of a missfire. If not now was there ever a time when you had this happen? mine had a missfire on #4 and it was the coil pack. You may have already looked into this but it's another idea.

Just as an update yes the coil pack had been changed after 2 weeks in the local shop gas test coil changes computer remaps and so many things i cannot remember they finally changed out the cam sensor. now i had been told that the cam sensor either worked or it didn't. this is not a true statement because this thing was running and driveable as such. when the check engine light came on itfelt like an anchor was being drug down the road and the gas mileage went to crap. hope if anyone else has this problem it helps thanks
