2005 Escape won't start again
Hi All,
I was driving from the State College PA area to Villanova PA on April 17 with my 4 month old son, dog, and a ton of luggage. I pulled into a rest stop to give my son a bottle and the car wouldn't start. I just heard a click and then nothing. I ended up calling AAA to get a tow (of course I was on the PA turnpike which means the call has to go to the Turnpike Authority so I had to pay for a tow instead of getting it free through AAA). The mechanic that fixed the car said it was something with the starter solenoid or something along those lines (I don't have the repair sheet with me). Fine, the car was fixed, I was able to pick it up a day later.
Last night, my husband, son and I made the same drive from State College to Villanova - car was fine. THis morning, I went to start the car and I had the same problem. Now I can see where there is a disconnect between two parts just behind the clutch and I tried fixing it myself but I can't (husband is already at work). I'm getting the same click when I try to start the car. I don't know if it is the solenoid again? I am ticked off because the same thing happened less than two months ago. I'm a Ph.D. student - so no current income - so I can't afford for this to start happening. Is this a defect? Starter problem? Solenoid problem?
Any insight?
Thanks,
Liz
