Why does the 2008 Escape SLS not come with a compass? Can't justify going to the XLT for a compass. Are there any reliable digital aftermarket compasses that can be wired to the battery.

 

You can probably have it installed from the dealer as an accessory. A little pricey I know when the dealer installs it. But if worried at all for warranty, it should be included with the warranty as it is a dealer install. I don't know houw the rear view mirror is on the Escapes, but what I plan on doing is installing this on my Mustang

They have cheaper ones that are just the Auto dimming mirror and Compass. This one has the homelink which is the big factor for me so I don't have to have the bulky garage door opener. Plus I will get the one woith the outside Temp as well, even a little more expensive.

It is made by Gentex. So you can look up it for the Escape model. And I am pretty sure the ones they put in the Fords, are made by Gentex.
