2011 escape radio doesn't shut issue
I have a 2011 ford escaped. Recently I had a problem that is starting to get worst and worst. But when I shut car off and open driver door, the radio doesn't shut off. It use to do it randomly, but now it's all the time.
Driver Driver door still seems to work and cablights come on when driver door is open. So far I have to open passager door to shut the radio off. Not sure what to do.

Hi how's it going? Is your radio stock? Is the key out of the Ignition when you open the door? (just trying to rule out all possibilities)
If so I have one thing we can try, hopefully it works. Open the door, Verify the radio is still on. Take a screwdriver and make sure the latch is fully released.
If the radio goes off you can try to lubricate it, or replace it.
I am linking a video to demonstrate, it's not my video he's just showing how to do what I'm talking about and its only 2 mins.
Hopefully the latch just isn't fully releasing.
If not, another idea I have is a concern with the wiring. It's less likely to be the cause, but if the above doesn't work you can try it to hopefully rule it out as well. Open the door, verify the radio stays on, find the wiring harness for the door. It is in black rubber tubing where the door hinges. Wiggle the harness and see if the radio goes off. DON'T be too rough or too gentle. Make sure you move it all around from different points, we are trying to get the wire to seperate IF it is broken.
I say this is the unlikely cause because if the wire is broken your interior lights would stay on as well as door ajar light and you wouldn't notice an issue with your radio.
Hopefully this helps, let me know.

Thanks for the ideas. Yes the radio is the factory default one and I always remove the key before I open the door. The wiretube looks to be in good shape and doesn't have any visible damage. But never know if water or something got in it. I will differently try thay latch trick next time it happens. I never even thought about checking it. Will let you know how it goes. Thank you 😀
