Default codes P1744 & P0741

I have a 2005 ford escape with 228,000 miles on it. The o/d off light keeps flashing and the engine light is now on. Took it and diagnostic done and it is showing codes P1744 & P0741. Options are fix problem within transmission or replace transmission which sounds like to best option ?

Both codes are related to torque converter clutch operation.
If you decide to have trans replaced with rebuilt unit , chances are pretty good the problem will be gone. The miles on the trans could help make a definite decision.

Well, Mr. Hanky is using his voluminous knowledge of automatics to his advantage. P0740 means an electrical problem with the Torque convertor clutch circut and p0741 means the engine speed did not drop enough when the TCC was commanded on.
At this milage, it most likely time for a major overhaul or replacement.

TY for your help. Think we are leaning toward getting a rebuilt tranny.
