2001 3.0 Escape Runs Rough
This 2001 V6 starts and runs fine when temperature is 40 degrees and above. If it's below 40F at cold start it will not run or idle without increasing the R's. Once the engine warms up, it runs and starts fine irregardless of the outside temp. In other words, it's a real pain to deal with in winter temperatures.
A code indicated a miss in the middle cylinder toward the firewall. The coil for that cylinder is ok and all the plugs were changed. That fix lasted 3 days. I cleaned the idle air control housing and renewed the idle air control acuator. And that fix lasted a week.
All other systems, electricals and aspects of the vehicle are fine.
My only concern is a relatively high oil consumption that's not showing up thru the exhaust. This Escape has 130,000, mostly highway, miles.
Does anyone have any suggestions on correcting the rough running when cold problem?
