Default Ignition coils - 2005 Escape

This morning, my Escape wouldn't start. When I finally got her started, the CEL came on and wouldn't go off, even after turning off and on again. Took her to the mechanic today and he finally figured out that I had one cracked ignition coil and 4 others had hairline fractures. And, the cracked coil had shorted my ECM.

Has anyone else run across this? What should I do other than call up the deal and demand they reimburse me for the parts and labor and replace the other coils? These shouldn't break, even under extreme conditions. My mechanic said they test these by freezing them in the freezer, then throwing them in an oven. They should be good for at least 100,000 miles, and I only have 41,000 on her.

suggestions?

I have seen one failed coil on an Escape in my time as a mechanic, but have not seen it be a persistent problem.
