I have no power steering and message centre say"Power Sterring Assit Fault". I hear a electric whine noise from engine compartment and a clicking frm the E.P.S ( Electroinc Powers Sterring ) fuse box area.

Does anyone know if this could be the fuse?

 

Fuse would cut power OFF to the system. So not the fuse. There is no relay in use either.

 

not sure what year you escape is, but have you checked into the electric power steering recall? call your ford dealer and give them the VIN to run.
