Default Plz Help! 08 Escape Rear Defroster

Sounds easy? Not so! My 08 Escape was rear ended pretty good ($6k). The body shop did a great job. Took a while in this mild weather, but realized my rear defroster grids are not working. It worked before the accident and I really want to add this to my insurance.

But the adjuster thinks I'm crazy, and says its working. It is not.

My button light goes on. A local glass guy did the test lamp on all the grids, 3xs per line and it is getting juice (but I don't think he had a meter on it, just a light). However, its not warming. I KNOW this has to be possible.

So, before a $140 diagnostic test from Ford...My question is: Is there any other way I can pinpoint the problem myself? I am worried that the test won't detect it and I'm out a future repair + $140. (that the insurance would otherwise cover)

Fuse?
Relay? Can I do a relay myself? I have a feeling this is "buried".

Should I just go for the diagnostic test because repairing this will be so expensive anyhow? This is my last chance! I don't want to eat this cost!

Many thanks!
