Default Transmission selector spins

My mother-in-law owns a 2022 Ford Escape (Titanium).

I own a 2021 Ford Escape (Titanium)
The two vehicles are identical down to colors and options.

The one difference is that the gear selector dial on the 2022 does not have a positive stop.
In other words, when you place the vehicle into PARK, you can continue to crank the selector dial counter clockwise until your hand gets tired.
The same issue exists when you place the vehicle into DRIVE... you can simply keep rotating the dial clockwise until your hand gets tired.

This doesn't seem right to me... There should be a "Hard Stop" when you turn clockwise to Drive and also when you move the selector counter clockwise to Park.

My salesman says there is a plastic clip inside the mechanism that is broken or loose and that the vehicle should be serviced.

The service write up lady tells me that this is normal and there is no issue. I don't believe her.

Is there anyone out there that has had this experience on their 2022 Escape?
