1997 escort wagon horn not working
Hi there:
Does anybody know whether a 1997 Escort wagon has two horns? Earlier models supposedly had one horn on the front right corner and another horn on the front left corner. I've only found the right front horn.
I went through the troubleshooting steps in the FSM and EVTM. Factory Service Manual and Electrical and Vaccuum Troubleshooting Manual. The EVTM makes it sound like there are two horns, but it doesn't explain where the horn is supposed to be on the left front corner. I found the right horn easily, it was hiding behind the bumper, bolted to the unit body between the inner metal and the plastic bumper cover. I went through the troubleshooting steps:
My horn fuse is fine.
My horn relay is fine.
My steering wheel switch is fine.
My horn relay properly makes a click noise when I push the steering wheel switch.
My front right horn is defective. I've gotten out my multimeter and proven I'm getting voltage at the horn power connector behind the bumper. So that horn is defective.
I want to know whether there's a second horn on this car or not.
I called the dealer (Marshall Ford in Mayfield Heights, OH) and they claim there are two horns for this car. My FSM disagrees, and my EVTM agrees.
Anybody have a 1997 Escort wagon with working horn(s) they can go honk?
