Default 1998 DOHC 2.0l Parts Problum

First question I am having to replace the thermostat housing. What are the 2 sensors on it so I can replace thoes. I think the bottom one is a Temp sensor sender what about the top ? I have also bought so many parts for this car to come and find out it was the wrong one even from the parts store. What is up with the pre 11/98 and the post 11/98. I know there is a big diff in price on the 2. Mine is a pre 11/98 or so thats what the Local parts store said. Just hope i get the right part. The housing that is. A Nother question is there a gasget nessisery for the housing to the engine. Mine did not have one will I need one ? Thanks in advance Jim

a gasket is necessary. Your car has one, it is an o-ring. It is there and it needs to be there so the coolant does not leak out
