Default 1998 Escort/Tracer GS.. Whistling Noise/Clunk

I just recently purchased a 98 Tracer GS with 75k on the clock in what appears to be good condition (paid $2,300). I have however noticed some issues since my purchase.[:-] [ul][*]When driving at speeds more than 40mhp I hear a whistling noise (from passenger side)?[*]When I press or release the breaks I sometimes hear a clunk/thump sound?[*]When I turn I have heard a squeaky noise (not clicking) a few times?[*]When accelerating I’ve noticed a cranking sound (like a chain pulling) underneath?[/ul]
Other than the above I fear the previous owner of this car has attempted to do some “work” on it and may have done more damage than good. I’ve found they added speakers and ran the lines under the carpet and didn’t replace it properly in some areas. They have also added speakers to the driver/passenger doors some screws where missing. I just got this car a week and a half ago and didn’t initially notice all of the above! I’m starting to think I made a mistake due to the amount of stuff I’ve found wrong with this thing. I’m also thinking that squeaky noise and the thump/clunk I hear maybe the CV joints or the struts?
The body is in near perfect condition, little in the way of scratches bumps or dents. Interior is in near perfect condition apart from the carpet wasn’t replaced properly in the back.
Any advice short of posting a.. for sale sign would be appreciated!
