Default 1998 ZX2 - squeals from engine?

when I turn off the engine, there is a very high pitched squeal. It doesn't happen all the time and the dealer cannot find what they can't hear. Anyone know where I can direct them to look?
Thanks.

Hello and good day:

May I ask a few question first????

1. Have you had someone stand out side of the car with the hood up to see where this may be located at???
2.Does this only do this when you turn the car off??
3. Have you Added Oil, or Anti-Freeze to the car lately??

Also may I suggest that you try to pin point this sound and location of it by......having yourself or someone standing out side with the Hood up....and Start the engine let it run for a few...turn it off.....keep trying to this till you can locate it.

Check your Serpentine belt if loose....Replace...

I think you may have a loose Belt...Bad Water Pump.. or a bad Power Steering pump.

Good luck and Please keep us advise.

We've tried to pinpoint the sound, but it isn't coming from somewhere specific. Last night I went for an oil change and a power steering fluid flush - the car didn't make any noise when they had it. I also have an ongoing problem of when it is very cold, the check coolant light is on, but I've got anti-freeze.

Today while driving I heard a very faint squeak, although it isn't as loud as when the car is stopped.

Thanks.

You state...."Last night I went for an oil change and a power steering fluid flush - the car didn't make any noise when they had it. I also have an ongoing problem of when it is very cold, the check coolant light is on, but I've got anti-freeze."

Was this Happening before this??
Does the Coolant Light Stay on at all times??

As far as the Coolant Light....the Sensor that is in the Coolant Reservoir has gone bad....NO BIG Deal..Just locate the connector on the Reservoir, and disconnect it.

You said that you hear a "FAINT SQUEAK" while driving...Is this Correct??....and when you turn it off it is really loud??

If this is the Case I would Put a $100.00 Bill on the Water PUMP....

Please advise further...

The coolant light started this year - only on when it's cold, but then sometimes when it's cold it's off. Doesn't have a specific pattern of on or off.

The temperature gauge this week is moving about 1/4 from cold to midway to hot. So it might very well be the water pump.

Thanks.

Ok....from 1/4.....1/2.....3/4....VERY HOT....would you say it is past 1/2, and very close to 3/4 ????

If so you may have to start with replacing the Thermorstate...if the Squealing still continues I would say the Water Pump...

One more thing this does not happen when you are driving the car....and turning the steering wheel//??
