My 1999 escort will not start, i got gas to injectors, i got current at injector fuse 17 amps when cranked, i got fire at plugs. The wife was driving it on the highway took an exit it started to sputter like out of gas and died , it started and she got back on highway but could not accelerate and after sputtering for 3 miles died and has not started since. I get gas out of the valvestem like thing on injector body.

 

It sounds like one of the sensors may have gone bad like the cam or crank position sensor. Timing is everything with today's engines. It is possible for the belt could have slipped and not firing at the right time.
