Default 2000 ZX2 Reverse Lights Always ON

The problem is that when the car is on the reverse lights on my 2000 Ford Esort ZX2 are always on. No matter what gear the 5 speed manual tran is in the lights are always on. If you pull the 10 amp Meter Fuse the lights will go out but so does the speedometer, the Tac, the turn signals, and all the other meters. Has anyone else ever had this problem or does anyone else know enought about the ZX2 to tell me how to fix it?

I think I know what the problem is but for some reason the Hanes manual doesn't tell you where the Backup Light relay is. How about alittle help here???

Did this just sorta happen outta the blue ? ? , or did you buy the car this way ,, As far as I know theres no relay for just the back-up lites , I've seen where folks have hooked the lites up to be on all the time , Thats why I ask ?

Sound like you have a standard transmission so try this:

replace the backup switch,
