I was thinking back recently to the 1993 Ford Escort that I inherrited from my Grandfather when he got too old to drive, and was thinking what a simple, yet joyful car that was to drive. I seem to remember that, despite the lack of power in that car, 1st gear was actually pretty darn fast. I was wondering if other owners of this car felt similarly...

I am not sure "fast" would be an appropriate term, but yeah, they are kinda fun to drive. Maybe it's just me, but I like them. I've had 2 previously and funny enough, found a 93 with 101,000 with a rebuilt motor recently and couldn't pass it up. It looks like hell, but rust free and runs great. Good gas mileage never hurts too!!!
