Default 96 Escort 1.8D Problem

i have 1996 ford escort diesel with 80000km on it. when the car is driven on short distance like 60 or 70km it doesn't make problem, but when you go like 150km suddenly it stops. the fuel stops going into the cylinders. i take out the pipe from the fuel filter (there's fuel pump on the filter) and pump some fuel and when it comes from the filter i put the pipe in the filter and it starts, then after 5-10 kms it stops again. the last time when it stopped i coudn't pump some fuel because the fuel pump was working like it should. some have told me to remove the original fuel filter and put another one. Please write if someone have had the same problem or knows something about. Thanks
