Does anyone know if there is another engine that can replace the zetec 2.0? 2nd engine down with the infamous timing belt-head disaster and there isn't any good used engines to be had that I can find and it is too expensive to repair.

 

cvh, sohc will work. but it has a belt also and alot less power i had a zetec in my old escort, when i got rid of it the engine had over 200 thousand. i changed the timing belt every 40 thousand miles.

 

My daughters ZX2 shredded the belt a couple months ago ... put a new belt, tensioner, and pulleys on it and it runs like new .. lots of online info says the zetec is an interference motor and is trashed, but hers had no damage. might be worth trying to put a belt on and get it back in time.
