Default Check engine

I have a 97 ford escort with check engine light on. Auto Zone states that it is a P1443.
Definition EVAP canister purge valve mechanical fault or VMV fault condition.

I just want to know what to fix and how much it might cost?

The explanation was that the ECM detected a fuel tank pressure change greater than a minus 7 inches of H2O in 30 seconds with a purge less than 0.02 lbs. per min.

Default RE: Check engine

Good chance its the EVAP Canister Purge Valve, possible the sensor next to it, or even the connecting hoses.. They like torot, split, and should be checked prior to any parts changes.. Check the line up to the intake as well..

Here's a pic of the location (L/forward engine bay) for the purge valve/sensor, and another pic for the purge valve with the sensor to the right..
