Default coolant leak inside cabin

Ok let me start off by saying ,I am not very mechanically minded but i need to save a few bucks.
I have a 93, 1.9station wagon which was running great until the other day when i noticed the temp gauge going into the red.

steam began to come out of the vent on the drivers side.Anyway to cut a long story short, there was a leak in the radiator so i flushed it out put new 50/50 in and some of that leak stop stuff.
Everything seemed good on the test run, gauge was at normal. Then i turned the blower on and found myself in a sauna, steam everywhere.not only that, coolant everywhere, under my feet.
Under closer inspection i could see coolant dripping behind the radio/blower console.

Is my car ready for eternal rest ? Or can it be fixed by me or for a reasonable garage bill?

BTW radiator does not leak anymore

Yeah, the heater core can be done by yourself, but it is a lot of work.

get a 12volt heater
heater cores are tough and usually involve gutting the whole dash... but saving money is saving money as far as i'm concerned.

replacing heater cores is all kinds of fun! it's like a big 3-dimensional puzzel, best done with the help of a friend (or in my case boss!). I haven't had the pleasure of doing one in an escort yet, but 90% of the cores I've done required the removal of the dash. Good luck with getting that fixed before it gets too cold.
