Default Ecort inside tire wear

I have a 2002 escort and when I went to rotate my tires I noticed that the passanger front was wore pretty bad on the inside. The car had been steering to the left so I just figured I needed an alignment. I went and got the alignment done but my front passenger side was perfect but my drivers side front was way out it was off -2.6 degrees on the toe and -2.4 degrees on the camber. Does this make any sence? The car still steers slightly to the left. They recomended new shocks and struts but I just figured they wanted to make more money. The alignment might correct the problem I just thought since the passanger side was the one wore it should have been the one out of alignment. Any help will be greatly appriciated.

First, if they performed an alignment with a badly worn tire that should be enough to alert you to get out of there and get another opinion.
I don't claim to be an expert, but I suspect you are more correct than you think.
Have another good shop check it out thoroughly for you and if they tell you they can't do a good alignment with a badly worn front tire ,they are correct !!

when the toe is out, the amount it is out will be split between the 2 front tires...total toe.

so your left toe was out of spec but the right was correct. You will turn the wheel to a point so the car drives straight. Both front tires will move and it will put the toe out on both sides...the amount out of spec, split between the 2 front tires.

what is the target for the front toe? -2.4 degrees out is a huge amount. I suspect a fwd car target to be +0.9 per side.

front toe being out will not cause a pull but will put the steering wheel off-center. Most pulls with macpherson strut suspension are tire related.
post a pic of the alignment printout numbers. hopefully they performed a 4wheel/hrust alignment.

I will post the printouts when I get home. I moved the worn tire to the rear when I rotated them. I went back to the shop and asked them if the left tire being way off would have caused the right one to become worn. He said that it would cause the right tire to become worn. I don't know if they told me that to just make me happy or if it is the truth. I also forgot to mention my wheels are bent up pretty bad but are perfectly balanced if that makes a difference.

If you had any kind of serious toe problem, you would see feathered edges on BOTH tires.
The fact that you exhibited an unusual wear problem on one tire is indicative of a problem with that side of the suspension , like too much negative camber or worn ball joint . That is why I suggested that you have another shop check the suspension parts.
Since you also suspect they are waltzing you around, why not just have another shop check it out and maybe save you some $$ in the long run?
I forgot to mention if there was a tie rod end problem with one end , it could give you an unusual wear pattern on that tire.
