P0401 Trouble Code
Hello everyone!
I hope someone can help me solve this dilemma I have. Last week, my 97 Ford Escort threw a couple codes ( P0401 and P1443 ) and so I changed the Canister Purge Valve for the code P1443 and change the EGR Flow Sensor, EGR Valve and the EGR Solenoid. So that being said, the code (P0401) came back on after one day of being fixed! So I went ahead and erased it. Then, after driving it for 20 miles, the light came on again with the same code! What else can be wrong? Maybe the ECM? But if it is, shouldn't another code come up like the P1443 that I just recently fixed?
PLEASE HELP!
Thank you!
Sheila

There are two components to that purge canister circuit. The purge solenoid, which sounds like what you replaced and the purge sensor. If you left the old sensor in place, that might be causing the code to return. Also check any and all of your vacuum lines for dry rot. That may also cause those codes to come up. I had the same problem with my '97.
If the EGR is anyway related to the EVAP Pressure in my 97 Ford Escort.. Is it???
Because if it is related, then I probably have to replace the Purge Flow Sensor then as I only changed the Canister Purge Valve...
Is this right???

I would say, yes they are related because the EVAP introduces exhaust gases into the intake and the EGR dilutes the air/fuel mixture with the proper amount of exhaust gases to control emissions.
I went to a local "u" pull it and got a used solenoid and sensor for like $15 and that solved my code issues.
