Hey,
I'm new to this forum and I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out what could possibly be wrong with this escort i purchased and almost successfully repaired.
I bought the car cheap because it was a mess. The head gasket was blown( water in the oil, oil in the water), water pump was toast etc...
Ive replaced the head gasket, machined head(new valves and seals), water pump, timing belt, and various other gaskets/belts. That was the most pricey head gasket I've seen yet!

So I start the car and everything is great; thats is, until it gets warm (10 mins). Then it starts smoking like crazy. Blue to black smoke.
At first I suspected remnant oil/water in the exhaust/cat; but, after a hard drive around the block a few times its still smoking.

compression test: great spike with 165 psi across the board

Any ideas?

 

I suppose i should add that it runs great/ starts right away and has lots of power on the road.

Internal Fliud leak?

 

Check the plugs, and oil level, and if the plugs are oil fouled and oil is low you are burning oil. If this is the case you will have to pull the head back off and check the head gasket to make sure it is not backwards or upside down, also check for deck warpage on the block, if it is off, it could cause a bad seal for one or more of the cylinders.
