ORIGINAL: Hayapower

The trans are adequate, more so in the later builds, if serviced 'regularly'... 15K severe duty, 30K standard...

what do you mean by later builds? which is in the 00 diesel excursion?

Thanks

The Triton plug/thread issues wouldn't overly concern me, and there's 'in place' repair for the pulled threads now.. Initail and maintenance costs are slightly higher on a diesel,

Are you refering to helicoil or a different repair? Where can I find more info on this repair?

OK CESPOOL I HAVE A 2001 F350 WITH THE GAS 6.8 AND JUST BOUGHT A 02 EXCUSION 7.3 STOCK
THE GOOD ABOUT THE GAS IS ITS QUIET IT DOESNT STINK AND WITH THE 4.30 GEAR IN THAT THING I THINK I COULD DRAG MYEXCURSION IN A TUGOWAR BUT THE MPG SUFFERS WITH THAT GEAR.
THE BAD IS ITS A THIRSTY DAWG. AT $3.25 A GALLON I DONT USE IT MUCH CAUSE 8.5-9.5 MPG SUCKS.
THE EXCURSION GOOD POINTS ARE
A. THE ROOM INSIDE
B. 13MPG AROUND TOWN 15 HWY
c. WILL TOW A HUGE LOAD
THE BAD
A. LOUD
B. STINKS INSIDE SOMETIMES ESPECIALY IF THE A/C OR HEAT IS ON AND YOU DONT PUT THE RECIRCULATE ON THE CLIMATE CONTROL. AND THAT PISSES ME OFF.

HOPE THIS HELPS YOU

RE: Diesel -vs- V10

THE 6.8 PLUG THREADS PROBLEM ARE DUE TO THE SPARK PLUG SHELL BREAKING AND THE THREADED PIECE STAYS IN THE CYLINDER HEAD WITH NO HEX HEAD TO TURN IT OUT. STUPID PLUG DESIGN. 50 YEARS OF SPARKPLUGS THAT WORK FINE THEN THE ENGINEERS SCREW WITH IT GO FIGURE,.........
