Question V10 is drinking oil

My Excursion is consuming a lot of oil. It has 95k mile and I use in Fords Synthetic Blend 5W 20 as recommended. I normally let it go 5K between changes and because of just too many things going on we let it go about 8K chnging the oil at 90K and half of the oil was gone. Just now about 5K later same thing, this time about 3.5 qts down.

There are no leaks and no abnormal exhaust.

I live in Phoenix Area and pull the trailer to Anaheim several times annually.

Any ideas what I may be experiencing?

I have not had to put a lot of attention into the Excursion until now. Do you think 10W/30 would be better for the AZ heat?

I believe it would be better to use 10W30 Full Synthetic than a synthetic blend.

Smile V10 with drinking problem

I stopped using 5-30W, dropped the synthetic and went to Castrol 10-30. With 105k on it now. Live on the northern edge of AZ in So Utah. Didn't use oil before and with the change in weight I haven't seen any difference, except in cost per quart. My old Ford PU started having a drinking problem and the mechanic changed the PCV unit. Don't drive it much but never have to add oil now.
