I have just recently purchased a 03 expedition. A friend of mine told me that the 04 has like 40 more hp than the 03. I did a search and found very different numbers from site to site. can anyone tell me what the hp is or a site to go to with the correct numbers. Also if the 04 does make more power, what was the change in the motor to add the power? Thanks for the help.

 

OH.. And it is a 5.4, 2 wheel drive. thanks

in 2005 the 5.4L v8 changed to a 3 valve system making 300 hp and 365 torque.

 

My understanding is that 04 Expeditions built after January 1, 2004 have the 3-valve engine and produce 300 hp and 365 ft/lbs torgue as opposed to the previous engine which was 2-valve producing 260 hp and 350 torque. I traded in my 03 on an 05 and the difference is very noticeable. My 05 runs smoother, has more response and gets better gas mileage (15 as opposed to 12 in my 03.)
