1998 Ford Expedition 4x4 5.4 liter shift solenoid B malfunction
1998 Ford Expedition 4x4 5.4 liter
My code reader says I have a shift solenoid B malfunction. I am trying to find a picture of a shift solenoid B and where it is located. If it is in the valve body can I take the valve body down and replace it without other complications such as loosing a part out of the valve body. Does anyone know where I can find a picture of the Shift Solenoid B and where it is located and how to replace it?
Thank you.
Hello,
Don't know if you have fixed this yet or not. You have the 4R100 trans and it has a solenoid pack. You don't have to mess with the valve body. If you still need help on how to fix this, I can walk you threw it just let me know.

transguy, what would be an indicator of this solenoid going bad.... i have a 99 eb expedition with the 5.4 and the 4r100... the truck was fine and all the sudden started bucking like it was running outta gas... but it wasnt the gas... now the truck when i put the shifter in D, it will go into first but not shift to ne other gears..... just wondering what this could be... took it to a shop but of course their answer was full trans for 3k..... i do my own mechanics and found a rebuild with only 40k oin it for 800 and i can put it in myself... just dont wanna go threw all that and 5-6 hours of work iof its something cheaper and simpler... if not ile swap the tranny... please advise... i really appreciate it....
would i have to remove the pan for the transmission to get to it?
