Default 2000 Expedition won't idle in cold weather

2000 Expedition 5.4L, 55,000mi, won't idle when left in very cold weather. Has a wierd buzz/humm/whine when running cold. Seems to idle too fast in warmer weather. I have been told I need to clean some sensor with carburetor cleaner. Can anyone give me their experienced suggestions?

Thanks!
Brian

Default RE: 2000 Expedition won't idle in cold weather

Thanks to other related postings on this forum I was able to diagnose the problem as a faulty Idle Control Valve. I replaced it ($39.00 part at Autozone, dealer wanted $106.00 for just the part!) as instructed and all is back to normal. Cleaned the MAF with electric component cleaner too. Learned a little more about my engine and saved probably $250 in the process. Big thanks for the help guys!
