SUV sat all week because of ice and snow and yesterday started right up ,but several miles down the road noticed all gauges dead and engine slightly coughing then stops all together. Had towed home and charged dead battery,engine starts and all gauges work. Then measured 14.7 at battery with volt meter. The battery is 2 monthes old with no corrosion, and with red and green anti -corrosion felt washers. On the short trip I went through 4 inches of water and hit the bank with a good jolt and could that have knocked out a power safety feature? it has original alternator (7 years old).......stumped.....bernie. (started up this morning just fine).
