2019 XLT Weird Issue
Hi hope you guys can help. My friend has had his 2019 used Expedition XLT for a few months. Today he's driving and the truck starts acting funny. Turbo not working, the app says Pre collision assist not available, and Powertrain malfunction. Says it feels like its a cylinder is gone like a coil or plug is bad. The get fuel light is on, so he pulls over gets gas fills it up, restarts it and ALL the issues are gone. Turbo working, all power back, like it never happened. Takes it to the dealer they go to diagnose it, it has no codes stored and they can't find anything wrong because its working normal. Anyone have any ideas? Don't want this to happen again far from home.
thanks

Whatever is happening is possibly throwing the vehicle into a type "Limp Mode" that is allowed to reset when you shut the engine down and restart it.
If it happens far from home, you probably could do the same thing, shut it down and restart it. What may be required would be to not shut the engine down and have the computer checked for a code or codes. This will most likely require a capable scan tool to check this out.
How far or how long before the problem shows up when driving?

Sometimes we have to take what info we receive and see where it goes and why.
There may be a good possibility something is not right at the sending unit and since a lot of info is received from that unit, there could be a problem lurking in that area.
It provides a little more info than just the level of fuel in the tank.It could be something like a simple poor connection, but the sticker is to find it. As stated earlier, a good scan tool with the ability to provide "Freeze Frame " info might just show what went south at the time the problem showed up.
