Default 97 Expedition speedometer

Ok this will be my first attempt at trying to find out what is wrong with this truck. My truck will not engage into second gear when its supposed to. The speedometer stopped working so I replaced the speed sensor. No change. Its all electric so there is no cable. I cannot find anywhere online that can shed light on what else may be the problem. I want to keep this truck, I love it and I plan on adding power to it. Suggestions???

Default Did you find the solution?

I'm helping my bro in-law with is 98 Exep, and you're close to having the same troubles.

He's speedometer (needle) would fail (goes to zero) and his Exep would start jerking (as though tranny is going out). This problem is intermitting. Most of the time it drives like a champ..then the scenerio I describe occurs. I'm guessing a vacuum line or a speed sensor is causing this...unknown yet. Nonetheless, I'd like to know if you solidified your problem?

Default speedo problem remedy

it is your gauge cluster causing the non shifting or rough shifting, i had same problem, my speedo went out and my truck didnt want to shift, replaced the inst. cluster and problem solved. mine was a 99 f-150.
