Default ABS activating for no reason

98 Expy-- ABS activating for no reason, sometimes the ABS light is on sometimes not. Ford says it is a 500.00 ABS module. Thinking about getting one from the salvage yard and installing it myself. Can anyone explain where it is located and how difficult it is top replace?

Ford ever give you any ABS DTC's? Possibly on the service/repair advisory or a description of any module diagnostic tests? .. Their diagnosis could be right on, but could be a wheel sensor or circuit if the system is just sensitive/fires to easily.. The ABS module piggy backs the hydraulic controller.. Here's a pic of what it looks like, and a general location.. Not hard to change if their diagnosis was correct..

Both pics the module is item 2..

Hayapower-- Thanks for the reply, Ford did not give any explanation other thatn the module was bad and it would cost $760.00 to replace it. It really bothers my wife to have the anitlock brakes engage. I am thinking about pulling the fuse to disable the antilock or trying to buy a module from a salvage yard and installing it myself. Is the module simply and electrical connection or is there also a hydraulic connection where I will need to bleed the brakes afterwords?

Not if it's only the module, no bleeding ect involved.. The module only has a few electrical connectors, held on with a few screws... Here's the attachment/connections...
