ABS problem

ABS problem
Yesterday my 2000 Expedition ABS light came on. When I turn off the truck I can hear something running. This is under the master cylinder. I took it to an auto parts and I was told to disconnect that part and maybe it would reset itself. I did it but to no avail. I just left it disconnected. My ABS light is still on. I can still brake normally. What Can I do?
