Default exaust question

i'm looking at replacing the muffler on my 03. i'v been told to use a flow tech or fluw master. thay say both are about equal and both will give bettertorque and gas mileage. on that note what else can i do to improve the gas mileage. intake? chip? tires? plugin code changer? diffrent plugs? help please before i need to get a loan from the bank to fill the tank.[:-]

I put in a Tornado in the intake. It will give you just under 10% increase. Mine went from 10 -11 mpg city to 12. It adds up in time. A K&N filter helps a little also.

Definately the air intake system. No need to worry about plugs until around 75,000 miles.

I put dual flowmasters on my 2000 E Bauer. Sounds good but didn't really make much difference in the gas. If I keep my foot out of it I can average 19.8 MPG on the highway. My city mileage sucks as expected. I can average 15 to 16 in the city. I also have a K&N Filter. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ($69) ON THE TORNADO. THEY HAVE BEEN PROVEN NOT TO WORK AND HAVE NO BENEFIT TO GAS MILEAGE OR PERFORMANCE. THEY ARE A HUGE RIP OFF. SAVE THE $69 AND FILL THE TANK WITH GAS.

The best way for the better gas mileage is to keep a heavy foot off the accelerator. The Expeditions are heavy and shaped like a brick. Mileage isn't going to be great no matter what you do.

if you go getting flowmasters get the stainless tips as chrome will rust its worth the extra money to get them and you can also get a cold air intake which will help, headers, changing the clutch fan out to electric fans, and programmers.
