fuel filter on 2003 expedition

fuel filter on 2003 expedition
I have looked all over the frame for the filter on my wifes expedition and can't seem to find it. Can somebody clue me in. Ithasbeen spitting and sputtering for about a month andI've replaced a couple of bad coilpack wires and that seemed to fix it for about a week. Now it is at it again.

Near the left side frame rail on the tank, behind the cover.. Insert a medium flat blade screwdriver in the the fuel filter 'protective cover' tabs, then genty turn 45 degrees,remove the cover from the tank.. Here's a pic of the cover..
