Why does my exp. (01) burn oil w/84000 miles?

Is anyone else having an oil burn issue with their expadition with only 84000 miles? I use 10-30 valvoline oil and it burns about 1/2 a quart every 3000 miles. Should I go thicker? I just bought the thing and didnt expect this.
The insight would be appreciated.

Jaime, My '00 chevy does the same thing, but I think I caused it by useing Moble1 before it got broke-in. 1/2 not to bad and I wouldn't worry about it:)

Every 5.4L ive ever seen uses 1\2 qt between changes.

Dont worry about it.

My 98 with about the same mileage burns 1\2qt or so, depending on how hard I run it.

Move up to a thicker oil, like 10W 40. I run Pennzoil 10W40 and it also doesnt tick on startup like most 5.4L's.

Dustin
