Default Why does my exp. (01) burn oil w/84000 miles?

Is anyone else having an oil burn issue with their expadition with only 84000 miles? I use 10-30 valvoline oil and it burns about 1/2 a quart every 3000 miles. Should I go thicker? I just bought the thing and didnt expect this.
The insight would be appreciated.

Jaime, My '00 chevy does the same thing, but I think I caused it by useing Moble1 before it got broke-in. 1/2 not to bad and I wouldn't worry about it

Every 5.4L ive ever seen uses 1\2 qt between changes.

Dont worry about it.

My 98 with about the same mileage burns 1\2qt or so, depending on how hard I run it.

Move up to a thicker oil, like 10W 40. I run Pennzoil 10W40 and it also doesnt tick on startup like most 5.4L's.

later,
Dustin
