Default 06 Explorer Tire Pressure Monitor (TPMS) and new wheels

This topic has prob. been covered..

2006 Explorer Limited. Planning on replacing the stock 17" wheels with after-market 20" wheels. What is the downside of NOT using a TPMS with the new wheels? I know TireRack sells TPMS for after-market, but would rather spend the $$ somewhere else.. Also have heard that they sometimes have issues..

Other than the annoyance of hitting the reset button on the dash to clear the Info Display after each start? Are there any warrenty issues? Is the TPMS connected with any other on board computer settings like anti lock or anti swerve?

I will still run the stock 17" rims with TPMS in the winter. Will this cause any issues after running for several months without the TPMS rims.

Any guidence on this is greatly appreciated.

B.A.
