Default 1993 exploder sport 4x4- no start condition.

Hi- I have a 1993 ford explorer sport 4x4. I also have a summer car. I have let the explorer sit for 2 months and now it won't start, even off a new battery. I'm not hearing a fuel pump like I used to on my mustangs of the same year range- do your guys' pumps whine? I think that may be the problem. I also noticed a dead weasel under the hood and am going to look for chewed wires again but so far all wires seem ok. Funny but true- don't know where that sucker came from. The last time I drove it I ran it low on gas so I put 3 gallons in it with a can a few days ago. This has been a pretty reliable truck before this and i'd like to get at least one more season out it- I like the 4x4 come winter! Is there a relay for the fuel pump on a 1993 v6? chiltons book is unclear on that.

Yes there is a relay.[hr] It is in a black box under the hood over one of the wheel well's.[hr]You can swap the fuel pump relay with the a/c relay to see if it will start.[hr]And yes you should here the fuel pump start as soon as you turn the key.[hr](Dam weasel)

Had the same problem on my 94 about a year ago. As said above, the relay is in a "Fuse" box on mine located on the passenger side of the engine compartment. If I remember right it was about a $10 part. I first swapped it out with the abs sensor to check and after driving for a few hours the abs light came on telling me the relay was faulty.

I went out and switched the relays- no luck. crawled under truck and tapped on fuel tank just for a try- no go. looks like I need a new fuel pump.

heres a pic of my truck. only mods are clarion cd/mp3 deck, replaced all speakers with clarions, aluminum mesh DIY grille insert (no fears of rock salt this winter), armrest delete, replaced wilderness a/t's with generic "custom 428"s, pushbutton 4x4 delete- I select which drive I want with vise grips Autozone "super turbo" exhaust. dead rodent under hood. reese hitch.

needs fuel pump, rear window seal, brakes, front ball joints and a tune up.

I did a quick look and didn't see any other wires that looked chewed. I do not know how to check for relay power- I read something of it but don't remember

here's a pic of the dead weasel- my friends on another forum wanted to see it.

He got his. If you have a test light or a meter see if there is voltage where the fuel pump relay go's with the key on.Test it for positive with the other wire grounded to the battery negitive.
