Exclamation 1998 sohc

I live in Ohio and just recently it has started getting colder outside.Well the Explorer that I have wont start. It will however turn over and act like it really wants to start. After a few tries is seems to lose its umph in the process of it starting. That I can smell antifreeze after it finishes attempting to start. All advice greatly appreciated.
