2000 explorer problem starting

Default 2000 explorer problem starting

hi all
have a 2000 explorer, when I try to start,sounds like the starter solenoid chattering and nothing from starter. when jumped from another vehicle, starts right up. any help much appreciated.

Usually when there is a poor connection with the battery cables a boost will temporarily overcome that. A thorough check of the battery cables and their connections is in order.

I would have the battery tested as well...

first check the battery terminals for corrode and have the battery checked out ! it could be the solenoid too !
