Question 2000 Explorer v8 5.0 ecm problem

My brother accidently flashed my dad's 2000 ford explorer's ecm with the data from his ford focus. needless to say it wont start now. what would i need to do to get it running again? i was looking around and and someone one told me if i got a used one or a new one i have to flash the PATS ( not even sure what that is or how to do it or even what tool i would need) and something else after i install the new one. any advice on what to do?

Just reflash the PCM with "as built" data. Take it to the local ford house and have them reflash it. Yes, it will cost you some money, but beleive me, you don't want to try to install a pcm and then reflash it and the IC unless you know what you are doing. See what happened when your brother worked on it?
