Red face 2002 Ford Explorer XLT 4x4CM

I'm looking for a replacement 4x4CM, 4wd module, or whatever it's called. I've found some online, but what I'm wondering is if the "Ford Part #" has to be exactly the same? Another family member has the same exact year, engine, model, everything and the part has a different number, so I'm just wondering if it matters or if any 2002 XLT Explorer control module will work? Thanks for the help!

Typically different part numbers means that there is some difference in the parts, whether it is visual or internal. However with a vehicle of that age it is possible that the part number has superseded. Do you have the part number from the part that is on your vehicle? If you have that or even the VIN number I would be happy to find the correct module for your vehicle.
