Default 2004 ford explorer xlt 4.0 sohc motor

my explorer has 143,000 miles and its idling rough when driving i can feel the rougness, changed the EGR VALVE, COIL PACK, SPARK PLUGS AND WIRERS, MAP SENSOR,still having the problem engine light was on got rest now its flashing again i dont know what else it could be please help

Have the codes scanned, they may give you an idea to what the underlying cause of the roughness is.

Default manifold

If you change the manifold gaskets (intake) there will be a difference. I had the same problem and didn't take much to do it, had it done within four hours and only cost me less than $20.00

Default sohc v6

Hi all: I just scrapped a beauty 4.0 l. V6 1994 explorer. How good is the 1998 SOHC V6? Will this one last longer or is it more sturdy than the '94? Thanks for your time, Wayne.
